Hamilton - Lauraville Main Street News: Donovan Fund presents 'Arsenic & Old Lace'

Hamilton and Lauraville are located in the northeast corner of Baltimore City. Surrounded by neighborhoods of stately homes, pretty cottages, and colorful gardens, the business districts of Hamilton and Lauraville retain their small-town charm. From the early days of Frank Purdum’s pharmacy on Harford Road at Hamilton Avenue, and the D. Markley Supply Company on Harford Road at Markley Avenue, the Harford Road business district has been the center of the community. Many years later, people, buildings and transportation have dramatically changed, yet Harford Road remains the lifeblood of the community. With strong demographics and convenient location, Hamilton and Lauraville continue to attract and support small businesses. A short commute to downtown Baltimore,I-95 and the Baltimore Beltway, Hamilton and Lauraville are wonderful neighborhoods in which to live, work, shop and thrive. In an effort to keep the Harford Road business corridor alive and vibrant, the Mayor’s Office of the City of Baltimore designated Hamilton and Lauraville as an offi cial Main Street.

Hamilton-Lauraville Main Street (HLMS) is a community-based commercial revitalization project of Baltimore Main Streets, which provides customized support and public resources to designated neighborhood business districts. Working with dedicated volunteers,HLMS has implemented the four point approach of a Main Street. Design, Organization, Promotion and Economic Restructuring committees have been formed to support existing businesses and attract new complimentary business.

The Donovan Fund

Monies raised help subsidize material needs of medically fragile seniors of fixed income in Baltimore City.

The Fund helps seniors pay BG&E bills and purchase supplies such as mattresses, fuel, hearing aids, and medical equipment.
