From the early days of Frank Purdum’s pharmacy on Harford Road at Hamilton Avenue, and the D. Markley Supply Company on Harford Road at Markley Avenue, the Harford Road business district has been the center of the community. Hamilton-Lauraville Main Street (HLMS) is a community-based commercial revitalization project of Baltimore Main Streets, which provides customized support and public resources to designated neighborhood business districts. Working with dedicated volunteers,HLMS has implemented the four point approach of a Main Street. Design, Organization, Promotion and Economic Restructuring committees have been formed to support existing businesses and attract new complimentary business.
