People Looking at Art: from photo to painting, 9 studies

at the Hamilton Gallery
July 6-29

"I took this series of photographs at theNational Gallery of Artlast year and I knew from the start I wanted to do some sort of project with several of them. I love the idea of creating art of people looking at art, and then a new audience looking at that art–very M. C. Escher. While going through my supplies I found 9 pieces of old canvas paper calledCanvasette, really mellow and ivory with age. It all started to come together, 9 studies, all on the same size paper, 9 to a grid on the wall. -JA
