Hamilton Beekeeper keeps Clementine in the honey!

Clementine is keepin' it local! With honey, that is. Purchasing fresh raw honey from a Hamilton neighborhood bee-keeper is yet another way that local residents & local restaurant owners are able to work together. Seen in these pictures, the beekeeper smokes the bees from the nest, checks for honey in each nest and harvests the honeycomb.

Some bee facts:
  • Queen bees have a life span of about 2-5 years.
  • Drones, male bees, live 40-50 days.
  • Most bees are workers, female bees who make honey & sting in defense. They live 1-4 months.
  • A bee grows from an egg to an adult worker in 21 days.
  • Queens lay thousands of eggs in the warm summer months.
