Stand Up for Kids - Help Prevent Child Abuse

We will be having our next "Stand Up for Kids" Vigil on May 3rd, and I want to invite you all to participate and/or bring a group of volunteers to help out, too. Our first vigil took place on Friday, April 5th, and the response from the community was wonderful! Many positive comments from those passing by including "I believe in that message! Stop the violence! Keep doing what you're doing!" as well as people asking questions about how they can join the movement to stop child sexual abuse and where they can get more information.

What:  "Stand Up for Kids" Vigil
Date:   May 3, 2013
Time:   3:30-4:30 pm
Where:  Kinkx Studio, 2926 Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD

Beautiful Evidence of Learning - Bobbi Macdonald #IB12

Every year 85,000 students in Baltimore are subjected to standardized testing that is supposed to be holding districts, schools and teachers accountable for student achievement. But tests like this mostly measure our ability to take a test. And the tests seem to drive out music, art, and recess from City Schools. What do we use the scores for? What do they tell us? They tell us we have come to value only what is easily measured. But if the tests don't give us valuable data, how do we know kids are learning? Lets look at the beautiful evidence together.
